Recently, FAPSC has been receiving updates regarding the decisions made on Gainful Employment. I have consolidated all of them in this section for your review.
The court decision can be found here: https://ecf.dcd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/show_public_doc?2011cv1314-25
Thanks to FAPSC members Ritzert & Leyton, P.C. for providing us this brief analysis of the GE decision to share with our members. http://www.ritzert-leyton.com/federal-court-vacates-the-department-of-educations-gainful-employment-rule/.

The Chronicle Of Higher Education: Judge Strikes Down Several Provisions Of 'Gainful Employment' Rule
"A federal judge has vacated several provisions of the controversial “gainful employment” rule, which the Department of Education issued last year in an effort to ensure that federal student-aid dollars flowing to vocational programs were good investments and helping prepare students for jobs that pay well..."

Language shapes the way people think. If you believe this premise, what thoughts come to mind when you hear the word, “compliance?” More importantly, what attitudes, behaviors, and institutional cultures take shape when compliance is the word used to frame behavioral expectations? The “C” word, compliance, has a negative undertone meaning to obey, typically in a subservient manner and when compliance is raised as a training topic, it is typically framed as a matter of understanding rules and the consequences of violation.
This poses a challenge for private postsecondary leaders who need all employees to understand the regulations that govern the sector but who want to transcend the meaning of the “C” word beyond rules. How does one move beyond the mindset of simply following the rules to avoid penalty and move toward acting with integrity with the byproduct being compliance?
Every year, FAPSC members participate in FAPSC Day where they meet one-on-one with lawmakers in Tallahassee, and this year was no exception. Nearly 100 meetings were scheduled during the annual event, which was held in November due to redistricting but typically occurs in February during Legislative Session.
During the meetings, Todd Fox, director of finance at the Pompano Beach campus of Everest University, met Florida Rep. Gwyndolen "Gwyn" Clarke-Reed, D-Pompano Beach, who invited him to stay in touch because she'd welcome an opportunity to speak at graduation. Fox stayed in touch as she requested, and Rep. Clarke-Reed delivered the commencement address May 12 at the Faith Center in Sunrise, Fla., during a ceremony for 220 graduates.
Rep. Clarke-Reed, a retired New York City school teacher who has been active in the community, was elected to her District 92 position in the Florida House of Representatives in 2008. During the graduation ceremony, she shared her story and passion for public service, which was a highlight of the event and an inspiring touch to add to the special day for the graduates.
