FAPSC would like to thank you for your continued support and participation in our association.  Don't let it end!   The majority of our members have a renewal date of 12/31/2012.  FAPSC has mailed renewal quotes to all those that are due and we also created a video that will walk you through the steps to discover when your school or company is up for renewal as well as provide you the information you need to complete your renewal process online.

I  recently came across an article regarding "The Importance of State Trade Associations" published in the Stateside Associates Blog. The article has alot of validity regarding supporting your State Association. Access FAPSC Directory, Events, Profile, Articles, and Web Pages from your Smart Devices!

Now you can access FAPSC information while "on the go" with our new App. This free download enables iPhone, iPad and Android users to search the member directory, browse events, read website articles and login and update profiles.

Search / Browse the Directory
You can search or browse through the member directory to find your peers. When you find the person you were looking for, tapping their email address will launch the phone's email or tapping the phone number will launch a call.

Manage Your Profile
Allows you to view and edit your directory profile to keep your information up to date.
See a list of all upcoming events including event details. We also have the ability to add conference programs to the app as well. This will help FAPSC save money on printing costs.
You can read articles from the website through the app, allowing you to keep up with the latest news and announcements while on the move.

FAPSC and MaxKnowledge are proud to present a focused training program for your school managers! There is truly something for everyone – whether you are new to the sector, new to management, new to the State of Florida or entering into a more advanced level of school management these learning opportunities are for you!
  3 Specialized Programs to Select From:

New Manager (Cadet Training) – for managers new to their position and/or new to the private postsecondary education sector.
New to Florida Sector (Captain Training) – for managers new to the state of Florida.

Advance Training (Lieutenant General Training) – for experienced managers of Florida-operated schools.

   • Each program offers 12 hours of Continuing Education Credit. 
   • Each program is comprised of 3 Online Courses. 
   • A certificate of completion will be issued to those that successfully complete all training

Have you ever sat through a presentation and thought I can do that? Have you ever been told that you have what it takes to be a dynamic presenter? If you answered yes to either of these questions then tell us about it!

The FAPSC continuing education committee is currently seeking presentations for our 2013 conference series.  Submit your conference session proposal online.  We are looking for relevant, timely, dynamic, effective and interactive breakout sessions for our administrators and faculty. If you have a terrific idea for a conference session - just take a few moments to complete the online proposal.  

All session proposals for the 2013 Central Conference are due Dec. 21.
All session proposals for the 2013 Annual Conference are due May 1, 2013. 

Note: There are a limited number of breakout sessions available – it is strongly encouraged to submit proposals early.

 Want a chance to win $100 and/or a FREE Annual Conference Registration?  Nominate a Colleague for a FAPSC Award.

The FAPSC awards committee is accepting nominations for the 2013 Annual Awards Program. The deadline to submit nominations is May 13. FAPSC is looking to award in the following categories Administrator, Faculty, Graduate and School.  All winners will be recognized at FAPSC 2013 Annual Conference (July 2013 – Turnberry Isle Miami).

* All nominators who submit nominations before March 31, 2013 will be automatically entered to win one FREE Annual Conference registration
* All nominators will automatically be entered into a prize drawing for a great gift basket (announced during the  Administrator Conference Awards Ceremony)
* Administrator and Faculty Award Winners and their Nominators will also each receive a $100 discount on conference registration fees
* The school that submits the most nominations (among all of the categories combined) will receive a FREE Faculty Conference registration.

Sharon Rodriguez named University of Southernmost Florida's Dean of the School of Nursing
November 17, 2012

MIAMI - On October 19, 2012, Sharon Rodriguez - previously Corporate Director for Nursing of Dade Medical College (DMC) - was named Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Southernmost Florida (USmF), a DMC learning affiliate.

Rodriguez has been with Dade Medical College for over three years. She has a Bachelor's degree in Nursing as well as a Master's degree in Nursing Education Specialization. Rodriguez is also in the process of earning her Doctorate in Nursing Practice-Executive Leadership.

Garth Hutton Named Corporate Director of Nursing at Dade Medical College
November 07, 2012

MIAMI - On October 19, 2012, Garth Hutton - previously Director of Nursing for Dade Medical College's (DMC) Hollywood campus - was named Corporate Director of Nursing. Hutton will be responsible for the successful and efficient operation of all of DMC's Nursing programs, and will continue the great work already started by Sharon Rodriguez-who will be taking over as Dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Southernmost Florida (USMF), a DMC learning affiliate.

Hutton began his Nursing career in 2002 after a career with UPS as Operations Manager and Industrial Engineering Supervisor. He now has a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Nova Southeastern University and a Master's degree in Nursing from Dominican University of California. Before joining the DMC team over a year ago, he worked as a Medical Surgical RN and an Emergency RN in South Florida, and as an instructor and Director of Nursing in Santa Clara, California.

Student Sees Sun Coast High School as a Path to Enhanced Employment Opportunities
November 06, 2012

Forty-three-year-old Lori Skoglund is an in-home care provider for people with disabilities. She has worked for Dakota Milestones in her hometown of Chamberlain, SD for the past year, but found that without a high school diploma her opportunities were limited.

"I'm not allowed to administer medications and it hurts my potential for advancement opportunities in my field," she said.

South Florida Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce’s Education Leader Of The Year Award Honored FNU’s President
November 02, 2012

South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SFHCC) honored Mrs. María Cristina Regueiro, Florida National University’s (FNU) President, with the Education Leader of the Year Award. Chamber President Liliam M. Lopez and Chairman Santiago Quintana, Jr. presented this well-deserved award to Mrs. Regueiro at the SFLHCC’s 18th Annual Sunshine Awards on Friday, November 2, 2012.
