It is with heartfelt sadness that we must recognize the passing of one of our valued associate members, Chuck Rettinger.
Chuck lost his courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. He has battled this disease over the last couple years and faced it with the utmost courage, dignity, and grace. Chuck began his career with Deemer Dana & Froehle LLP in 2005. He led their Education Services Group compliance audit team, serving the postsecondary education school industry for almost 25 years. Those who worked closely with Chuck, whether a client or a co-worker, were blessed to have known him. He will be greatly missed.
The memorial service for Chuck Rettinger was held Saturday March 19 at 12:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 415 North Main Street, Springboro Ohio 45066.

Each year FAPSC opens nominations to the general membership to honor colleagues in the career college sector. These awards are announced at our annual conference. This year our conference was held in Hollywood, Florida on July 13-16, 2010. Since some of you did not get a chance to attend this event we will highlight an award winner each month in our e-Flash. This month we highlight Graduate of the Year from a NON-DEGREE GRANTING INSTITUTION presented to Kimberly Colding, Fortis Institute, Mulberry
Ms. Colding was an engaging student who juggled many responsibilities while attending school – a single mother with no child support, and working full time. She has an unwavering caring attitude, always willing to help out her fellow students and the campus staff. She enjoys sharing the story of how her life was changed by her opportunity to go to school and become a Medical Assistant.
Kim tutored students and qualified to be a substitute instructor. Her ability to engage students and the hands on skills she learned helped students maintain success. Upon graduation, she was offered a job opportunity right from her externship. Her great skills in teaching allowed her to continue at Fortis Institute. She wants to continue teaching and is studying to achieve her CMA and X-Ray certification.
Ms. Colding has overcome some tough challenges. Everyone who has witnessed her transformation will attest to the amazing person she is and the positive impact she makes on all that meet her. Congratulations Kim!
