The FAPSC member school New Horizons Computer Learning Centers opened new doorways for U.S. Army veteran Samuel Davis of Orlando.
Davis, who entered school equipped with six years of military service in computer networking and communications security, and an associates degree in Computer Science, acquired skills in the A+ Certified Technician, Network+ Certified and Security+ programs at New Horizons.
He credits the additional education for the edge he needed to secure a position as an Information Assurance Analyst with Cybernet Systems Corp. in Orlando.
In the Information Technology (IT) field the skills and information change quickly so Davis sought the skills he knew he needed to compete. “I chose to enroll to obtain the necessary certifications to reinforce my technical experience in order to better market myself for employment as a Network Security Engineer,” he says.
A combination of the hands-on training, knowledgeable instructors and the overall “helpful attitudes” he experienced at New Horizons were a match for his needs. “The instructors are patient with students….they provide a successful learning environment,” he adds.
The school also helped match Davis with employment opportunities including the position he eventually secured with his employer.
“Attending New Horizons, I have obtained the necessary skills and certification along with job placement assistance to get a top-paying job for skill level,” Davis says noting that he’d recommend the path he chose to others.
