FAPSC Faculty Nursing Workshop

Test Item Writing Workshop and Quality in Nursing Education

The presentation will begin with a keynote speech by Dr. Sharron Tanner discussing quality in nursing education. Dr. Tanner will be followed by a critical workshop on test item writing for nursing faculty. This presentation is sponsored by Elsevier and will help nursing faculty select, construct and evaluate appropriate test items using taxonomy and client center needs mapped to the NCLEX blueprint.


A short keynote from Dr. Sharon Tanner, former Chief Executive Officer for the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). During her tenure as the CEO, Dr. Tanner was responsible for the accreditation of more than 1,500 nursing programs of all six (6) program types throughout the U S and internationally. She has also served as a faculty member and nurse administrator of nursing and allied health programs at the practical, diploma, associate, baccalaureate, and master's levels; in addition, she has served as an college administrator in both academics and student services.

Jean Flick, RN, MSN has been a Nursing Professor of Grayson County College Associate Degree Program in Denison Texas since 1991. She also served as the Chairperson of the Department of Health Sciences at Grayson County College. Ms. Flick is also a test item writer for HESI.
