The Florida Barber Board is continuing in their efforts to adjust the number of hours required to be eligible to sit for the "Restricted Barbers" exam.  There have been a number of meetings on this issue since the end of the 2019 Legislative session.  Even if you don't teach "restricted" barbering, this proposal could effect your school.  FAPSC also expects that the "deregulation" issue will also be re-introduced for the 2020 Florida Legislative session.  If your school teaches barbering or cosmetology, you need to pay close attention to what is being proposed both as rule-making from the boards and changes statutorily by the Legislature.  These changes could drastically effect the way you do business here in Florida.  FAPSC has created a new committee relating specifically to barbering & cosmetology.  If you are interested in participating, please contact me at or in the office at 850.577.3139
