Luzviminda's Story

As a valued employee at a major airline, Luzviminda Plummer was offered a promotion contingent upon completing FAA Airframe and Powerplant school and passing her federal certifications. Plummer found a perfect fit with FAPSC member National Aviation Academy in Clearwater, Fla.

Plummer proved to be a talented student who despite many obstacles graduated from the Aircraft Maintenance Technician program with an outstanding 3.75 grade point average. A single mother of three who left an abusive relationship, Plummer also took in and cared for her aging mother. At the same time, Plummer continued to work for the airline covering double shifts over the weekend and commuting between Tampa, Fla., and Houston, Texas.

“Despite these enormous responsibilities and obstacles, Plummer stayed focused and committed to her studies,” said Angeline Capriotti, director of career services at National Aviation Academy. “At the time I was her instructor, and she inspired us and left us speechless with her work ethic and tenacity.”

At National Aviation Academy, Plummer was able to sharpen her skills and expand her knowledge and capabilities so that she could earn a promotion and prove her value to her employer.
