A native of Jamaica, Lipton McKenzie immigrated to the United States with his family in 1973. He attended the Charon Williams Career College, receiving his degree in Computer Operations. As a product of the sector, he understands it, and advocates for its students.

Upon moving to Florida, he worked in the banking Industry for 15 years, receiving awards from the American Bankers Association.

His background with the banking industry was very helpful to FAPSC member schools during the ‘90’s , helping to match students with lenders at a difficult time. Lipton was active on the FAPSC Board of Directors in the 1990’s representing the associate members and could always be counted on to be an exhibitor at the FAPSC conference, at a time when there were only a few companies exhibiting at the conference.

In 1991, he began his own business, McKenzie Financials Inc., specializing in Default Management. In those early years he received much council from Art Keiser, C.M. Fike, and other FAPSC members. Lipton was never too busy to speak at a graduation or talk with the graduates of FAPSC schools and help them navigate through the complicated world of student lending and repayment.

He has been in business for 24 years and has assisted schools with students ranging from non-degree seeking to candidates for doctoral degrees. He has a passion for default management and consults with campus leaders to promote financial literacy.
